Overcoming Language Barriers w/ Edita Bandur | Systems With Laura Podcast | Episode 1

Apr 14, 2025

In the very first episode of "Systems With Laura", I had the honor of hosting Edita Bandur, a business communication expert, educator, and mentor with extensive experience in helping professionals enhance their communication skills on a global level. With Edita as my first guest, my podcast journey truly started in the best way possible.

Who is Edita Bandur?

Edita holds a Master’s degree in English Language Education and Philosophy, is a CELTA-certified business communication specialist, and a passionate educator with a wealth of experience. She has worked with over 1,000 students from various professional and cultural backgrounds, helping them communicate effectively on an international scale.

With her expertise in modern digital tools, AI-supported learning, and confidence-building techniques, Edita empowers individuals to use English as a powerful tool for networking, public speaking, marketing, and sales. As an entrepreneur and non-native English speaker herself, she understands firsthand the challenges—but also the incredible potential—that language learning holds.

What is this episode about?

In this episode, we discuss how to overcome the fear of making mistakes, develop confidence in communication, use language as a tool for business success, and how artificial intelligence is reshaping the way we communicate in the business world.

Edita also shares her personal story—how she moved from wanting to become a philosophy teacher to becoming a sought-after business English coach. It’s a journey that took her from academic passion to practical impact, helping entrepreneurs make their voices heard in international spaces.

Episode highlights

One key highlight from our conversation touches on the question “What are the actual benefits of doing business in English today?”

Edita says, “You have the world as your oyster.” And she is absolutely right, English is widely accepted as a global lingua franca, and using it strategically opens up access to clients, collaborators, education, trends, and digital tools that may not even exist in smaller local markets. From reading the latest studies and industry journals to getting the most out of AI tools (which are mostly trained in English), the opportunities are truly vast.

English isn’t just a language; it’s a gateway to global growth.

One of the most powerful parts of this episode is when Edita opens up about the deeper, often invisible factors that shape how people, especially women, communicate in business. Even highly accomplished women—those with visible success and admiration—still struggle with the feeling of “I’m not good enough.” And that pattern, she says, needs to be gently but intentionally broken. This part of the conversation touches on what so many entrepreneurs feel but don’t often say out loud—and it’s so needed.

We also explore the question: "What communication skills should entrepreneurs focus on developing in 2025?" If you’re curious about Edita’s insightful answer, trust me, you don’t want to miss this episode!
